GAME CHANGER

There is a new mural on the basketball court in the Evelyn K Davis Park, 1400 Forest Ave. in Des Moines. Left, right and below: A few photos of the work in progress, (September 18-27, 2024. The finished product is above.

Above left: September 18, 2024. This is my first visit to see the new art mural on the recently constructed basketball court at Evelyn K Davis Park. Local Des Moines artist Jill Wells, has arrived. As you can see, she is already busy setting up plans for this momentous project. Jill collaborated with King Elementary students and others to make this work of art titled "Growth Culture" come to reality. I first met Jill October 06, 2022. She was putting the finishing touches on her beautiful mural on the outside wall of an apartment building at Oakridge. It is only fitting that I was at Evelyn Davis Park September 27, when she was putting finishing touches on the new b-ball court  mural. I think this beautiful work of art is nothing less than amazing!

My View for the Month: As you know the neighborhood in and around EK Davis Park has faced many challenges throughout the years, but many good people live here. I am so thankful for all of the individuals and organizations that have teamed together to make this new "sports arena" at Evelyn K Davis Park happen. I can already picture the many young people (and not so young) as they gather together to exercise and have fun in a positive and wholesome way. Yes, this could be a real GAME CHANGER for the community.
